In a market increasingly disinterested by Black Friday how do you reinvent a digital store front that overcomes all the new challenges of reaching today's shoppers?

WHAT WE DID

An original, endless runner retro-arcade game capturing the spirit of sale season. the best part? a build-your-own smartphone-compatible arcade cabinet, to add a little google magic to black friday purchases.

 

We teamed up with Google to create Shopper Hopper — a browser based endless runner starring Hoppy the bargain hunter. Her mission: to bounce down the high street as far as she can before crashing into Black Friday crowds. Graphics and sound inspired by classic arcade games and retro-inspired voxel 3D assets bring the world of Shopper Hopper to life.

 

We wanted to give Google customers more than just a charming, free-to-play adventure. When Black Friday shoppers bought something from the Google Store, they received a specially designed, build-your-own arcade cabinet to house their phone and play Shopper Hopper in true arcade fashion — adding an extra layer of Google magic to the experience. This labour of love also spawned the creation of an original typeface: Hopper Mono, a blocky font inspired by the classic arcade games from which Shopper Hopper draws its inspiration.

To date, the game has travelled beyond our target markets to over 3000 players in 90 different countries - true organic global impact.
